What a Wonderful Day

Today was an almost perfect day. We got up and moving and Lillian and I hit the farmers market to pick up our weekly produce with the CSA we belong to. We swung by the house to grab daddy and headed to the fairgrounds by 9:30. We were going to the Good to be NC Festival. I thought is was just going to be an inside event with vendors hawking their NC grown products.

But when we got there, it was like a mini state fair. And we do like a fair! The actual inside event did not open until 11:00 but next door was a Health & Fitness Expo so we went to that. Lillian had a blast walking through a blood vessel and tasting healthy samples of water and protein bars and visiting the "nice bathroom."

After that we headed to the NC Festival where we sampled more goodies, although not nearly as healthy. Lillian ate peanuts, lots of different meat on toothpicks (she will almost anything on a toothpick), lots of chutneys and a bit of chocolate. And she got to have her very first freezer pop - those kind with the electric colors in the little plastic tube.

Once we were done there, we headed to the midway so we could ride rides. I rode the strawberry ride with Lillian and daddy rode the double Ferris wheel with her. I will admit that I was quite paranoid about the Ferris wheel. It was so high and no safety belt. I told her that she had to hold on to daddy and gave daddy the same warning. When they got on, Lillian wrapped herself around daddy just like I told her! Daddy let her ease up and then the ride started. She had a great time looking at all the below that looked like ants. I did have some tears in my eyes as they rode on the ride. She seemed so small to be on such a big ride but all ended well.

In the car she practiced giving us some of "Dorothy's White Honey" samples with a straw. We headed to lunch and then home where WE ALL TOOK A TWO HOUR NAP! Then we played "Spooky Fun House" and she and daddy went out to play while I made dinner. Daddy did ask Lillian if mommy should go outside with her and she said, "No mommy stays in and cooks dinner." So much for non stereotypical gender roles I guess!

Bath time went smooth as well as the combing of the hair, teeth brushing and actually the entire bedtime routine. Lillian was in bed by 8:15 and of course got up twice to go potty but I was out of her room by 8:30 pm. And so far not a peep out of her. It was a super busy and fun day. What would have made it perfect was if I had brought a camera with me and it was not quite as hot. We had no fits, no hitting, no fussing, Lillian listened to us, walked the majority of the time at the festivals. She acted like such a big girl. Mommy and daddy were so proud of her and we had such a delightful time with her today. Thanks PeaPie and Sweet Baby!
