Head Games

Lillian is REALLY into climbing lately. Case in point: tonight while trying to read to her before bed, she decided it would be fun to climb on Daddy's head.

If you listen very closely to the end, Lillian gives Daddy a little "toot" present!

Climbing Cat Monkey

Here is Lillian showing Mommy how she climbs the cat tower. She attempted this feat the first time a few nights ago while Daddy was in charge. She has not asked me to help her do this - I think she knows I would say NO!

Dinner Menu by Lillian

Each Thursday after KinderMusik class, Lillian and I go grocery shopping. During breakfast, I make out the shopping list, always asking Lillian what we should buy. This week she actually chimed in and said turkey. As we were shopping, I was asking her what we should have with the turkey and she said mashed potatoes.

So for dinner tonight we (Joe and Lillian) had lemon turkey, mashed potatoes, cinnamon carrots. The whole thing was much easier to prepare than I thought - as a vegetarian, cooking meat always is a bit daunting to me.

I first gave Lillian only five pieces of turkey thinking she would probably only eat one and the rest would go to Joe or a cat. Well she scarfed down her turkey and asked for more! So I gave her another five pieces and and she ate those and asked for more. The third helping of turkey went mostly to Elsie but Lillian did manage to eat a bit more of it. She even ate all her carrots and left her grapes and blueberries; usually this child will eat fruit, fruit, fruit, fruit and more fruit.

Pic of the day

This morning during playgroup at a local children's museum. For public restroom potty time, she often requests a snack and this time I gave in!

Birthday Party

Lillian has a BLAST at her birthday party. We were a bit skeptical about it thought. When we told her that her cousins would be coming over and her littlest cousin, Cammie, might want to play with her dollhouse, Lillian went over to the dollhouse and said, "I don't share with Cammie. Mine." But no fighting over toys occurred and no tantrums!

The party theme this year was the alphabet. I made an alphabet table cloth (just a plastic liner with purple letters on it) and when Lillian saw me putting it together she told me that she did not like it and did not want it on the table. We had vegetable soup with alphabet pasta, grilled cheese sandwiches cut into letters, prosciutto and cheese, crackers and fruit. Her birthday cake was designed to look like a bowl of soup complete with alphabet cookies. The cake was banana with chocolate Ovaltine icing and homemade banana ice cream.

She did not go down for her nap until 3:00 pm (she normally naps 1:00 - 4:00 pm) and then we woke her up at 4:15 pm so we could take her to the hockey game. She did really great at the game as well. She followed along (she asked Joe "Where is the puck?") and really liked eating a soft pretzel - dipped in ketchup - and watching the intermission entertainment. When you ask her about the hockey game she says, "There was a pig on the ice and green chairs. And the people fell down. A big balloon with letters Moe's. People cheering. I saw zambonies driving. I saw blue men and they have little tiny dogs." Translated that means she saw Stormy the mascot playing a game on the ice with green chairs and the contestants fell on the ice. There was also a yellow blimp sponsored by Moe's floating around. She saw a poster for The Blue Man Group and they were holding chihuahuas.

We left the game at the start of the third period and made it back home and still had her in bed by 8:00 pm.
